Welcome to Cypress Grove Art!!!
Thanks so much for visiting Cypress Grove Art! My name is Christine Grafe, and I've been teaching Art in College Station since 1992. I have a BFA in Art Education from Texas Tech University. My favorite media are ceramics and glass fusing, but I love teaching all media to my wonderful 5th and 6th grade Art students. 5th grade Art is a 12 week course concentrating on color theory, basic painting skills, ceramics, papier mache, and crafts. 6th grade Art is a 12 week course concentrating on drawing, painting, ceramics (including hand building and wheel throwing), paper mache, glass fusing, tie dye, and much more! My 6th graders come to me with somewhat reserved art skills, but leave my class as amazing artists (at lease I think so!). As I tell my students at the beginning of each year, I have much less concern with how the finished product comes out as I am with the creative process they go through. I firmly believe that Art provides a daily opportunity for students to develop the creative skills they will need for the future needs of our ever changing world. It is my sincere hope that they leave my class as more highly creative thinkers and thinking creators! In promoting my students' work, we've been involved for the last several years with Artsonia, which is a website dedicated to student work from around the world. There are millions of pieces of art available to view, and each of my students has a web page with their gallery of creations from my class. I strive to get every piece created uploaded to the site throughout the year, so check in often to see the great things going on at our school! |
